UCA conducts earthquake awareness drills and seminars

The heart of UCA is to promote holistic education to its students, teaching them not only academics, but also developing in them the awareness and preparedness for all possible calamities like The Big One.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the country experiences an average of about 20 earthquakes per day. The danger in an earthquake is that it is unpredictable, meaning it can happen anytime and anywhere. To get ready for this, UCA conducted its Earthquake Awareness Seminar and Drill last August 29, Friday. This shall prepare the students, as well as parents and school staff, of the guidelines, safety protocols, and evacuation plans in case such situation arises. Through seminars, the nature and possible effects of earthquakes were discussed by the teachers.

The pupils and students of UCA attended a short seminar about earthquakes. The students learned the cause and effect of this calamity to us and to our surroundings – a natural disaster that everyone must be prepared for. This seminar is a way to inform students of the school’s evacuation plan and to practice the Drop-Cover- and-Hold.
Apart from all the physical preparations, it is God and His protection that we can trust, for He is faithful to fulfill His promises to His children.
